The machine discriminates multiple denominations and delivers the denominated bills to a single output stacker. Hatanaka also discloses a rejection aperature equipped separately for receiving “mismatch” bills.

The machine uses a line sensor to generate a scanning signal corresponding to the printed pattern on a currency note (Abstract). The system is intended for processing U.S. currency (Fig. 1).

The apparatus receives a stack of currency bills in an input receptacle. The bills may have mixed or single denominations. The apparatus can process bills at a rapid rate on the order of at least 1,000 per minute.
DocumentU.S. Patent No. 4,830,742 (Takesako) issued on May 16, 1989Takesako discloses a currency processing device for receiving a stack of U.S bills and rapidly processing all the bills in the stack, wherein the device comprises an input receptacle adapted to receive a stack bills of a plurality of denominations. Takesako also discloses a denominated bill output receptacle to receive bills whose denomination have been determined and totaled.
